The Voice

The voice new testament has tried to make reading Gods word easier and more enjoyable for most people, However as I read it I found that it seems that in trying to make it simpler and easier it is a bit overdone, for instance in Mark 1:22 in says " The people looked at each other, amazed, because this strange teacher acted as one authorized by God, and what He taught affected them in ways their own scribes' teaching could not." I do not think Jesus had to act as if he were from GOD, and this makes me think of some one trying to act like what he is not and we certainly know that He is God who took on human flesh in order to die for his creation.and again in Colossians 4:3 where Paul was encouraging them to pray for his ministry they stretched it a much far by saying "pray that God will open doors and windows and minds and eyes and hearts for the word". I believe many people will be confused are at least left wondering about several things.

Chronological Guide to the Bible

I have found this book to be a delight to read, as I read it I have learned much that brings the Bible into a new light as to learning archaeological facts that are not listed in most Bibles. This book goes through each book of the Bible and gives facts that will help the average Christian learn much needed material in order to understand why certain things were done and why the people of that age did things a certain way, for instance why Abraham took Sara's slave and had a child by her, Why would a woman give her Husband to another woman to have her a baby? as you will find out it was what every nonbearing woman was to do because it was what was expected of her by that society. It contains many maps and even traces the tracks of the Hebrew people in their march through the wilderness and into their Home land which God Himself had promised them. The book is on very thick glossy paper so it should last a lifetime of reading and study. I highly recommend this book to everyone who wants to be serious in studying the Bible. It would be a good study book for groups.

Kaleidoscope by Patsy Clairmont

Patsy writes about some of the proverbs that she has noticed have been fulfilled in her own experiences, because of this she is able to get her point across of how God's Word has been fulfilled in her own life and is able to help her readers grasp the truth and how it works in their life without sounding like she is preaching to them which makes her book easy to get into. It is light and gentle and filled with humor as we would expect from Patsy. She has also included a study guide at the end of each chapter to help her readers see how God's Word is being fulfilled in their own life situations by asking questions that causes a person to examine situations that perhaps need looking at with God's Kaleidoscope for when we use our own Kaleidoscope we as Paul said "look through a glass darkly." Patsy knows that only when we look through God's Kaleidoscope can we clearly see where we need improving and when the Lord points out our need in life situations, then we are willing to let Him change us, and when He changes us, then we are truly changed.

Facing your giants by Max Lucado

This book is just what I expected from Max Lucado, easy to read and understand. Max sets the tone of great story telling in the very first page of chapter one, and He continues this simple easy to understand language. He sees into human nature and the Lord's love for His people and at the same time the reader is lifted up from his low thinking and living to the high altitude of heavenly thinking and living which in turn causes the reader to want to reach higher and live holier than he is presently doing and he knows the Lord wants him to. As one reads this book he has to ask himself if Max Lucado has read the same Bible he reads when one investigates the stories in the book and the Bible he realizes that Max does indeed read the same Bible but with a greater depth that he missed because of the little attention he paid when he reads the Bible.
in this book Max is able to help one see so many lessons that pertain to life liberty and freedom.
I whole heartily recommend this book to one and all.

Good day!

Today we had my grandsons 16th birthday party. It was nice, because my family gathered here.
